(CERRITOS, Calif.) — Pro & Son's, which owns five Ranch Market supermarkets in Southern California — was honored August 16, 2001 at the Sheraton Cerritos Hotel by the Southern California Grocery Sales Association for excellence in grocery retailing.
The award was presented to Pro & Son's President and Chief Executive Officer, Michael A. Provenzano, Jr., a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Unified Western Grocers, Inc. Provenzano accepted the award on behalf of Pro & Son's management team, which includes Michael Provenzano III, vice president and chief financial officer, and Jay Milner, general manager.
Pro & Son's owns and operates five supermarkets in Southern California under the Ranch Market banner — the Arvin Ranch Market, Bakersfield Ranch Market, Delano Ranch Market, Southland Ranch Market (Ontario, Calif.) and the South Gate Ranch Market. The stores, which are designed to appeal specifically to Hispanic consumers, are serviced from a warehouse in Ontario that also houses the company's corporate headquarters.
In accepting the award, Michael A. Provenzano, Jr. said that much of the credit belongs to the more than 800 employees of Pro & Son's Ranch Markets who work very hard to create a warm and friendly atmosphere for local shoppers.
"Successful businesses are truly the product of a team effort by each and every one of the employees you have working for you," said Provenzano. "From our warehouse team to our managers and all of our clerks and assistants, our employees are our greatest resource and are absolutely critical to the day-to-day operation of our business."
