(LOS ANGELES) — Directors of Unified Western Grocers, Inc., the largest retailer-owned wholesale grocery cooperative in the Western United States, re-elected Louis A. Amen, Chairman, Super A Foods, Inc., Los Angeles, to a one-year term as Chairman of the Board in conjunction with organization's Annual Shareholders Meeting, held here on February 27, 2001.
Amen has served as Chairman of the Board since Unified Western Grocers, Inc. was formed on September 29, 1999, the result of the merger of Certified Grocers of California, Ltd. (Certified) and United Grocers, Inc. Prior to the merger, Amen served as Chairman of the Board at Certified.
Additionally, directors re-elected Mark Kidd, President, Mar-Val Food Stores, Inc., First Vice Chairman of Unified Western Grocers, Inc. and elected Michael A. Provenzano, Jr., President, Pro & Son's, Inc., President, Provo, Inc. and President, Pro and Family, Inc., Second Vice Chairman.
At the Annual Meeting, shareholders of Unified Western Grocers, Inc. elected 18 individuals to serve one-year terms on the organization's Board of Directors. The remaining 15 directors elected to the Board were:
