We recognize our corporate responsibility to serve as an active participant in the communities in which we conduct business. From financial or in-kind support to sponsorship of specific activities and events, Unified and our independent retailer members and customers are strong supporters of organizations that help sustain healthy and vibrant communities.
Unified associates also support charitable organizations through weekly payroll deduction and special fundraising events such as bike rides, walks and cook-offs. Many associates volunteer their time and serve as board members for a variety of different charitable and educational non-profits.
Unified is also a proud sponsor of important diversity organizations such as the Network of Executive Women, ensuring that our workforce and our industry is as vibrant and diverse as possible. Some of the many organizations that Unified has helped over the years include:
City of Hope
The food industry, including Unified Grocers, has a longstanding relationship of supporting the City of Hope and their lifesaving work in the fight against cancer and other serious diseases. Each year, Unified and its employees help raise awareness and much needed cancer research funding through internal campaigns, volunteer activities and sponsorship of the Seattle, Walk for Hope.
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Sponsoring associate participation in events such as Cycle for Life and Hike the Halo, Unified has not only helped support research to find a cure for CF but at the same time, encouraged healthy, fit lifestyles for our associates.
Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
For nearly three decades, Unified has supported the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and their full spectrum of comprehensive pediatric health care, education, and research for the children of the Pacific Northwest. From our support of the annual Heart of Doernbecher Ball to our company’s regular fundraising auctions and luncheons, Unified Grocers’ employees enjoy making kids a top priority.
Northwest Harvest, Oregon Food Bank
Fighting poverty and hunger is a cause close to our hearts here at Unified. Throughout all of our operating divisions we take great pride in helping keep community support organizations and regional food banks stocked with the products that they need to ensure no person ever goes without.
